Or, Memorial Day Recipe Link Up Edition
I thought it would be fun to go through disqus and posts I remembered commenting on and share some of the comments I made this week on other sites and let you decide from that if you’d like to go and read the post or not.
Great idea for my next blog post – questions I wished people had been too ashamed to ask Google that turned up in my analytics. Totally not safe for work. Questions I’m too ashamed to ask Google
I am entering because I like winning things. Rachael Ray Cookware Giveaway (note please do not enter this giveaway as it lowers my chances of winning)
I think it’s a cross between a mullet and mom hair. Maybe a mollet?
Not sure, but I think it was some sort of post partum hormonal thing, that caused me to buy not one, but two pairs of fine-waled corduroy pants in pale aqua and pink.
They came in the mail and I realized they were old lady pants, which makes sense because I ordered them from the old lady clothes store. A Mullet or What?
This will probably take about 3 weeks but by the time you are done, the resistance that they will feel towards the very idea of clicking a simple link to your blog will be overwhelming and they’ll find themselves doing stuff like picking all the hair out of the drain one by one instead of reading your blog…and they won’t know why. Posts That My Parents Should Skip
Once I lit an empty lot on fire trying to make a burnt sacrifice of minnows. That wasn’t sanctioned by anyone though, I came up with that idea myself after reading the Bible. Kids and Fire: A Bad Match
I am not sure if I want to thank you for the documentary recommendation or scold you for getting the song Ben stuck in my head.
Finding unexpected bits of art is one of my favorite things in the whole world. Unfortunately, I am not artistic, so I hide loose change in the cracks in walls and on ledges. Not quite the same, but I’m sure it gives somebody joy. What Banksy and I have in common
Speaking of Disqus, if you’d like to work with the Disqus commenting system so that other readers can find your blog, you can read this excellent tutorial my friend Margaret of Nanny Goats wrote.
This week on Health Compare Guide, I wrote two posts:
10 Lies the Food Industry Wants You To Believe
When it comes to your health, the food industry is not your partner. Their job is to bring in as much profit as possible, getting consumers to buy, no matter what the consequences might be to your health and diet.
And they are really, really good at it.
These 5 Things Will Help You Eat Less Meat and Love Every Meal
The key is to make small changes that add up to eating less meat over time, which will make your wallet, your heart and the planet breathe a giant sigh of relief. Here are a few tips that might make the transition easier.
Of course, if you’re having a Memorial Day Cook-Out
Eating less meat might have to wait until Tuesday! Here are a few of my mom’s Korean recipes that I posted previously that would be awesome at a cook-out. Note: the egg rolls/spring rolls, japchae and kim bap are all excellent without any meat at all.
Bulgogi (also spelled pulgogi) is a great introduction to Korean cooking if you like beef. It’s simple to make from regular grocery store ingredients, tastes amazing and serves as a component of other dishes such as kimbap, chapchae and bibimbap.
The highlight of these dinners is the huge platters of grilled short ribs which are called kalbi or galbi in Korean. You can eat them plain off the ribs or cut off bits of the meat and wrap them with a bit of rice and kochujang (red pepper paste) in lettuce.
Korean noodle salad…This is an excellent recipe for vegetarians, it’s delicious without the meat and substantial enough to make a light meal.
Kimbap is the Korean adaptation of Japanese futomaki style sushi. The biggest difference is in Korean Kimbap (also spelled gimbap, the pronunciation is somewhere between the two) the rice is seasoned with sesame oil instead of rice vinegar and sugar. Kim is the Korean word for nori (the seaweed sheets) and bap is rice. In Korea, kimbap is a very casual food and very popular for picnics or casual entertaining.
My mom’s most famous recipe! I have a goal of getting 100,000 page views on this post by August 30th because my mom is so tickled pink that so many people (over 75k) have seen it so far. So if you like this recipe, please feel free to share it with your friends! And if you make it, or any of the other recipes, please let us know in comments how you liked it.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. And because for some reason every email thread I get into with the guys I work with ends with somebody linking an Eminem video, I feel like I should share one with you (Such language! Don’t listen at work or around kids).
The only thing that could make this song better is some Elton John. He makes everything better. Oh yes, I did say that S-Doody, D-Coup and Wavey Davey! (that’s their official T-Posse names) Speaking of the gang, they are about to launch something that I think is very clever and useful and I can’t wait until I can tell you about it.
