Or, item one on my list: write blog post
Wow is my word for this weekend. Not that a ton happened, but it seems like all of my ideas finally crystallized into a cohesive plan and all the little random things I’ve been doing without really knowing why finally revealed their purpose. It’s a little scary, because there are about 20,000 things I have to get done to make it work, but I’m going to chunk it all down and do it one step at a time. Which segues nicely into my list of randoms:
Random One: Have found the most charming to do list app!
It’s called Put Things Off, is that not brilliant? Basically, you enter your tasks and when they need to be done and can either put them into the today pile or the put off pile. The app will remind you on the due date that you absolutely have to get this done.
Now will it work for me? I’ll let you know, right now I’ve only gotten to the put things in part of making a list and it seems I’m crap at that as I stopped doing it to tell you about it and write this post. It does have a very attractive, easy to use design, which makes it well worth the $2.99 so I think you should get it.
Random Two: But not until the Buy Nothing Challenge is over!
I’ve started a Buy Nothing Challenge on the IHMMB forums. It’s not really for saving money, although that would be a nice bonus, but more to examine our spending habits and how much crap we buy to fill needs that could be filled in a way that doesn’t waste resources and cause our lives to be filled with clutter.
Random Three: Speaking of the forums…
The bloggers forum is off to a great start! If you haven’t checked it out already, go ahead and take a peek. It’s meant to be very casual and totally more a hang out than a formal, this goes there and don’t you dare stray off topic sort of place.
I also have to say I’m also impressed by Guy from My One Piece of Advice who really just sort of got the whole purpose of the OFFS forum on the boards. Or maybe he didn’t and it’s still the forum nobody understands. That’s fine, either way I win.
By the way, I found out reading the free BloggingBlueprint ebook from Plugin ID that “FLOG” actually means fake blog, not forum blog as I’d intended. That’s fine, it works either way and again, I feel like a winner either way. By the way, the ebook was really good and I recommend you give it a look.
So yes, check out both the TnT Bloggers Lounge and OFFS and if you see something you like, jump right in and post. Or tell us all about how you’re going to be a movie star or why you think I’m totally wrong about commenting.
Random Four: self promotion
Totally getting the hang of it!
Random Five: Geez, I like to feel like the deck’s stacked against me.
My good friend sent me the link to “Lose Yourself” one day when I was feeling discouraged and I was like awww, hell yeah! You know, I’m getting all pumped up, getting ready for my one shot. My one chance. Because you know if I choke, well damn, whoops, there goes gravity and I’ll be back in the trailer park with Kim Bassinger.
Totally forgetting I’m a young-ish, white-ish*, healthy, middle class American with a decent education and social capital out my wazoo. Dude, I’m always going to get another chance! But somehow I don’t think a song about how if it doesn’t work out this time I can try again having learned a valuable life lesson would be as good at getting the blood flowing.
Random Six: *Yes I said white-ish
That’s the good thing about being bi-racial, I get to choose. Or not. And I tend to choose whatever suits my argument best. Makes up for people asking me how to make sweet and sour pork all the time. Sorry to any klansmen in the audience who object.
Random Seven: Old timey country music
Is really awesome for cleaning around the kitchen. I had gone through a period of cleaning to Hermes House Band but my husband seemed to think that was too English soccer hooligan, so I switched to Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline. I also imagine I’m in the 1940s while I do it and my iPod dock is an old timey radio and women’s liberation is just a dream away. I don’t dress up in heels and a frilly apron though, that would be silly.
Random Eight: Who am I kidding?
Heels and a frilly apron would be awesome! Somebody buy me this one so I won’t break my No Buying Challenge!
Random Nine: I got my 100+ fans on Facebook and was able to get my vanity URL
See: http://www.facebook.com/IHateMyMessageBoard. Although now that I have it, it seems rather anticlimactic.
Random Ten: Que Sera Sera
I would so love to invite everyone over to my house for drinks, singalongs and general goofiness. Hope your week ahead is awesome! I might be scarce because of the giant to do list, but then again, I might be ubiquitous. Depends on what I’m working on at the time. Tell me what you’ve got going on, I’d love to hear!

I would love a sing-along! Of course, if we do “I got you Babe”, I get to be Cher.
I’m organizing my ’09-’10 homeschool schedule so that when the end-of-summer/fall canning season is in full swing, I won’t be stressed to do it at the last minute. Good times!

Hi Tracy,
I love the “Que Sera Sera” song and video. Great sing-a-long with wonderful words of wisdom. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Tracy, I loved hearing lose yourself again for the first time in a really long time. I love the chorus of that song. You are a lovable goof ball. Don’t ever change that.

This was such a joy to read! I think that I have been living the “Buy Nothing Challenge” for a couple of years now and it really does grow on you! I totally agree with what you said about the needs lessening when you get into the habit of not buying. So true!!
I also liked the Doris Day video and the apron deal. Funnnny.
