  1. I’m totally only doing a list post because Problogger told me to do so. I was just so pleased that tip #1 in 31 Days to Build a Better Blog was not “Get somebody else to write it you talentless peon” that I decided to stick with the program. Although you know, I’m going to have to say it, some people need tip #1.
  2. Speaking of blogs, remember the other day when I said I was going to ask my readers for help? If you are interested in helping, let me know in comments and I’ll send you an email about what I call “Project Flog”. There will be a small time commitment involved, but I think that everyone who participates will be rewarded, too. Intrigued? BTW, if after you get the email you decide it’s not for you, there is no obligation to participate.
  3. Ooh! I asked for help! The life coaching is working!
  4. True Confession: Sometimes when people try to soothe me when I complain about my kids and say “They’re only young once” I pout and whine that I’m only going to be 34 once, too. Hey, world! Can’t you at least pretend you can still see me underneath all the kids? Thank you. Obligatory disclaimer: I love those little stinkers.
  5. In case you didn’t see it when I linked on Twitter: Quite possibly the oddest invitation to visit a website I’ve ever received.
  6. I am using this post to confess to my husband that I spent $14.50 to have a Mo’s Bacon Bar delivered to the house today.
  7. It’s okay though because my secret Flog project will make me rich, RICH!
  8. If you are a PR person for Fit Flops, I think it would be an incredibly smart move to send me a free pair. I won’t even say how expensive they are in my review or nothing, just post photoshopped pictures of my tight little booty and give you all the credit!
  9. Cute kid story. Yesterday Alex is talking about how he was born in the year of the horse and how his brother Kir was born in the year of the monkey. Kir shouts “A-lex! I was born in year of the spider!” and Alex says “Mom, tell him” and I told Kir “yeah, it was the year of the monkey” (I remember well because all my Chinese restaurant place mats that year said “beware of the monkey”) and Kir looks at us, stomps and says “Well it was a spider monkey!” Then he spent the rest of the walk home shooting imaginary webs at all of the cars driving by.
  10. Oh yeah, the prize. I am going to give one random commenter a secret prize! Why is it a secret? Because I won’t know what it is until I see who wins and where they live. If I know you very well, it could be awesome! Cheap, but awesome. If I don’t know anything about you and you live in Uzbekistan and leave a dull “enter me” comment, well it will probably be something dull like a handkerchief or travel mug. Just comment on this post to enter. Tell me something random about yourself to help me figure out a prize. On blog reader appreciation day (which I swear is a made up day but I celebrate to keep my family happy) right before I go to bed at about 11pm CST I will pick a winner at random Remember to also let me know know if you want to be involved in Project Flog, too.

Thanks for being great readers and even considering maybe taking the time to think about helping me! Now I have to go and run and take a shower and clean the house and bake some cookies for my phone call with my life coach this afternoon!

WooHoo! The winner is lucky number 13 Pluie! Luckily I already know where she lives, so this should be fun!

11. My husband’s favorite food is bacon. Do you think he would like a Mo’s Bacon Bar? If I get him one, will he love me forever and try to find my G spot, too?

12. I subscribe to your blog now. We’re both obsessed with each other. It’s nice when love is mutual, don’t you think?

13. I had a dream the other night that I was sitting in a movie theater when huge tsunami hit. Water surrounded the theater which was spinning like a top for some reason. I woke up before I died. What do you think it means?

14. I was complaining about the economy the other day. My 4 year old told me that I could have all of the money in her room.

15. Enter me?

OH, and since I just did a stumble, I helped you complete task 2 (or maybe it’s 3… not sure) in the Problogger challenge.

First off, great post. Not your typical list post, but still well within the bounds of the 31DBB challenge.

Second as means of my entry: I’m a dad that wouldn’t mind a pair of those fancy flippity floppitys myself, but would gladly settle for a little link love (if we’re all being honest here).

Glad to have found your blog through the 31DBB, thanks for following on Twitter!

“I’m only going to be 34 once, too. ”

This is actually very true. While I totally agree that they are only young once, putting your life completely on hold until your youngest is in school can be a big mistake, personally and professionally.

We had our two kids late and 8 years apart. That means I’m 62 and still have a 20 year old in the house. When people say they’re only young once, I reply that I’m only old once, too! Seems like I’ll be doddering and drooling before we get both kids educated and out of the house.

Sign me up for Project Flog, please. I like contests, but I seldom win. My Dad called it the Nichols Luck. Example: When my son was learning to put on his shoes, he put them on the wrong feet more than 50% of the time!

And that random fact about me: I am a professional classical musician, but I love the blues. In fact, I listen to the blues more than I do classical music. In my reveries, I dream about becoming a blues musician.

Obligatory disclaimer: I love those little stinkers.
Well, when i read that you gave me a smile :) I just thought “well that comes with the job description” :D And i would like to add one more answer to those wise-asses they-are-only-going-to-be-kids-once people, “hey why don’t you keep ‘em for a day see how you handle this childhood of theirs” :P On the other hand i love kids generally and i hope to have at least one, one day… Thanks for a nice read!

I am intrigued by this flog thing. Do share.

Random tidbit about me: My sister thought I straightened my hair by blowing it out daily and it was somehow really important to me that she learn that my hair was instead straightened by my lazy methods of pulling it into a tight ponytail for work when it was still wet. So in my personal value system, it is better to be lazy than concerned with appearances.

Dang! I wracked my brain until it hurt on what kind of list post to write! I could have written the Top 10 List Post Ideas That Didn’t Make The Cut and been done with it. No, no, no….I had to lie to a friend to discover my thingy.

I love what you have written! So “in the moment” and fun! I hate being new.

All the best!

When I first saw the FitFlops I got into a very interesting discussion with the salesperson. Being cynical, which I can be, I gave a very ‘heh, if it was as simple as wearing different shoes we’d all have an ass like hers, ‘ pointing toward the insanely svelte lower body on display.

If they send you a pair and you review them I’d be tempted to shed this attitude for the greater good!

Pallab April 16, 2009 at 6:03 am

In case you didn’t see it when I linked on Twitter: Quite possibly the oddest invitation to visit a website I’ve ever received.

He is just an idiotic spammer..who ended up being unintentionally humorous.
And yeah, that guy really needs your tip #1.

Hi Everybody! I just wanted to say thanks to all and I will email people tonight. I’m having one of those days where I’m not able to be in front of the computer and have to go out into the sunshine and talk to people and practice my gross motor skills.

I know, tragic life I lead.

I love to read and have been a bookworm all my life! I am an elementary school teacher who is also a reading specialist and a librarian as well. I guess you can tell I like school and I also like to read, huh? Thanks for the chance to win a mystery prize! I also love contests!

Barbara Swafford April 16, 2009 at 9:55 pm

Hi Tracy,

So glad you Twittered this as I haven’t made the rounds yet.

Random thing about me. I have a pen fetish. I used to go to office supply stores and try dozens of them and then buy 5 or 6. It makes a difference what kind of paper I’m writing on too. I hate a pen that drags. :) Am I wierd?

Hey fellow “Year of the Tiger” mom…unless you’ve had your birthday already this year. I laughed with your child insisting it was a spider monkey. Sounds just like my little froglets who also make me crazy wondering when I get to be me again (with obligatory “love those little stinkers” disclaimer)!

Ok – I missed the contest even though I totally wanted to win some children.

And LOL at spider monkey – funny and clever. (I’m a monkey too ;-)
