And Assorted Random Bits
As I said in my last post, it’s been a terribly busy week. I’m not really a Mommy Blogger and don’t write much about my kids but one day I might have to do some sort of running diary of what it’s like to be at home with 4 children ages 1.5 – 6 all day long. Maybe in conjunction with some sort of fundraiser for me. Let’s just say I’m tired and am not feeling very enthusiastic about being on a diet.
I can’t even remember what I’ve eaten the past week because I kept forgetting to write it down. I know it involved a lot of kimchi (see photo). I forgot to write down my kimchi recipe as I made it, so I’ll have to make some more so I can figure out how I do it. I think the kimchi is better for weight loss than Shangri-La, it just seems like it would dissolve fat, doesn’t it?
St. Patrick’s Day I had corned beef and cabbage. It was super tasty but as I hadn’t had meat in quite a while I felt rather bloated and icky afterward.
So, here’s my weight progress chart:
It looks to me like I am on a very, very slow losing trend. Sigh. I am not fond of the slow trends. Here is this week’s before picture, I don’t care for it, but as I’m too tired to take another one today, it will have to do:
To look thinner in pictures, put a segue to your next post in a little thought bubble sign thingy. People will start thinking about Steve Buscemi and ignore your thighs!
So yeah, Steve Buscemi is on Twitter and he wants people to take pictures of themselves holding signs that say Steve Buscemi is on Twitter and post them to photobucket. I am not sure why but if I were a celebrity, I’d probably spend all my time thinking of things to try and convince people to do, too. I’m not going to put that photo in the group album, because I am not crazy about it, but last night I was thinking hey, wouldn’t it be cool if I could somehow convince Steve Buscemi to post on the I Hate My Message Board forums.
Now, the problem is, I can’t really think of a good and compelling reason to give to him why he should do this. He’s probably a really busy guy and I can’t really offer him much in the way of publicity or enhancing his coolness. I could see it now: “Hey @steve_buscemi, you know what would be awesome? If you just randomly popped up on this message board full of moms and wrote what you really think about circumcision and sparkly ponies!”
I think it would be awesome, because unlike most Americans, I really care what celebrities think.
Last night, I’m thinking about this and trying to figure out how to make it happen and then I realize, you know, Steve Buscemi would be fantastic but you know what would be even cooler? A forum full of moms and D-list celebrities! Like Dolph Lundgren and Grace Jones and Tito Jackson. Because everyone knows nothing brings the drama like mommy boards and reality shows full of minor celebrities – if you could somehow mash the two of those things together what you’d have is a website full of grade-A awesome. They wouldn’t even have to be proper celebrities; maybe if we could just get all the people from various Bravo reality series to post on IHMMB, that would be a great start. And pretty soon, before you know it, we’d get people like Vicki Lawrence and the Mandrell sisters (probably not Barbara though, I can’t dare to dream that big) posting and I could die a very happy woman.
I know it seems like an impossible dream, but I grew up listening to Casey Kasem telling me each week to keep my feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars. And that’s exactly what I intend to do.

It’s good that you’re losing weight slowly. It really is the best way to make sure it stays off.
FOUR kids?? Wow. I don’t think I knew that. You are my hero.
Vered – MomGrind´s last blog post..Lipo Dissolve Nightmare: A Cosmetic Procedure Gone Wrong
Hi Vered, actually it’s five but the oldest is with his father during the school year. It’s actually not as crazy as you’d think to have four small children except weeks like this when there is no schedule. We need our routine!
I think losing slowly is best, too since that’s how I put it on. In all seriousness, I could stay this weight for the rest of my life and be okay, but I did need to do something to stop gaining. It’s time for me to start taking care of myself..
I gotta be honest with ya, I think at 5′10″, you are already at a decent weight. Possibly, you are at your natural “set point”, which is usually a range (150-155). I do think it is wise to eat healthily (is that a word ?) and exercise, but I am not sure if Weight Loss is a workable plan. I’m 5′10″, and my set point (when I am fit and toned) is 150-155.(I am almost there !) When I was single, thin, childless and care free, I was 140-145. Those days will not be back. The rough rule of thumb is 100 lbs for 5 ft tall, then add 5 lb for each inch over 5 ft.
Hi Sym, I’m not sure, I guess we’ll see in another couple of months if nothing happens. My weight before #2 son was 120 and then it was six years of babies, babies, babies, so who knows what my new weight will be. I suspect it will be less than 150 but a lot more than 120. You have to remember, I have a very small build so I should be on the lower end of the healthy range. I suspect that sleep deprivation has played a major part in this because I started putting on weight rapidly (20 lbs like BAM) when the baby started not sleeping and finally started losing it when he started sleeping a little better.
On the other hand, like I told Vered, I would be happy at this weight forever, if I don’t gain anymore – not so much because of vanity, but I’m very scared of diabetes. So, staying at a healthy weight and eating a good diet and exercising are very important to me.
“…because unlike most Americans, I really care what celebrities think.”
Huh Tracy? What America are you talking about? LOL! I don’t give a crap what some celebrity thinks unless they are a celebrity because of their thinking. However, given the way Americans fawn over celebrities and hang on their every word, I think most of America cares way too much what they think.

Stephen- could not have said it better. If I went up there and told people to do that I would lost my followers. LOL- Tracy, I think people would be very interested in the trials and tribulations of raising 5 kids (4 at all times). You can call it momnowinsanitylater.com –

You are a hoot to read! Keep up the good work with the diet. I hope to try it soon but am nursing a 4 month old so I think I should wait a bit.
Hi If you are serious about loosing some weight and keeping it off its a change of eating habits that’s needed. Most people loose weight then put it back on when they diet, the idea is to change your eating habits so that food is enjoyable but healthy, otherwise the weight won’t stay off. Also if you can add some exercise even if its only half hour a day it will help a great deal. I guess its easy for a man to say these things, but my wife is a great inspiration to me, she is very keen on eating healthy and keepfit and went training at out gym up until 2 days before she had our daughter and was back again after only 2 weeks.
I really need to try this.
