I never had a fear of heights until my brother talked me into climbing up a three story tree and riding a zip cord across a river. Now I think twice. It took the whole crew to talk me threw it. When I was finished I was happy I had accomplished the same thing as him. He told me in the end he never did it, and he wouldn’t do it if he was paid.

I guess that’s why I am the fearless one and he couldn’t go upstairs without me for a year after Gremlins.

I’m cool with the height. Not so cool with the spinning. If I embark on such an adventure, I’ll request the straight up and down version, thankyouverymuch.

That looks like so much fun. Would I be a real doodyhead if I laughed at your misadventure? Depending on the answer, I did or didn’t laugh. I’m glad you did manage to walk (or stagger?) away with a positive outlook.

I love this story. I too am deathly afraid of heights. I am thoroughly relieved that I have not been required to hurl myself from a perfectly good airplane since 1999. Though, I remember when I enjoyed it…it was surreal and amazing and peaceful…and STUPID! I wouldn’t trade it for anything because the memories rock. I doubt that without a man who weighs significantly more than I do and has some glorious torso muscles urging me forward I would ever do it again.

You are my hero. I’m afraid of heights, too, and suffer horrid vertigo. Sometimes I get dizzy and catch my breath just walking down the stairs! Still, it is a life dream to jump out of an airplane. Someday.

Trust me: that expert is exactly where you want him when your stomach declares “Man overboard!” Plus, he had this great way of lifting me up and to the right so that none of the mushroom omelette stained the chute. That’s skill!

I’ve always wanted to try paragliding, though the idea of an expert “strapped to my back” lessens the appeal.
