I have the smoothy maker. In my defense it was bought while we lived in the UK and couldn't find a basic blender. Check out lakewood.co.uk for a plethora of counter cluttering 'damn I could use that' appliances. I would spend hours looking at their catalogue and wandering the store.

Hey ! I am looking desparately for a BACK to BASICS smoothie maker.
I loved mine until it decided to just act out for no particular reason. I am sure that it was just cause I loved the damn thing. Fresh frozen fruit, a minimum 3 different kinds, a mini yogurt drink from the store, and a 1/2 pint of cranergy juice whirling away at 750 watts of power made me happy ! Yes ! Yes! Yes! Very happy! Not that kind of happy but happy nonetheless! I liked the idea of getting my fruit and fibre count for the day and of course who could forget the good bacteria from the yogurt drink, which in my case, claims to boost your immune system and lastly that extra boost for your bladder and kidneys from the cranberry juice and wait for it, the pumped up version for even more great immune boosted fruit and fibre filled energy! I don't care that I had to rinse and rinse with soap and water every day and I never had a problem cleaning out the spout. There will be none of that horrible bacteria for me! Besides what decent bacteria would bother me after all the efforts I have made to put myself in good health or at minuimum keep it that way! So, leave my 750watt Back to Basics Smoothie maker alone. Mine is gone and my fear is that I may never find another like it ever again! Sigh!

Yep, just reread the post. Yep, I was out of context. Now, if these "Back to Basics" products really do it right, they'll be easy to use, simple to repair and work.

My apologies for my previous waste of words.

On to World of Warcraft before I damage cyberspace anymore!

:)

My dad bought an electrical drill the year after he got married: 56 years ago. (Now before you go calculating, I'm number 5 child of 6 and they started a little late by those days standards!)

I have it. It still runs. When it has issues, I oil it. It that's not enough I can ACTUALLY TAKE IT APART AND REPAIR IT! Can you believe it!? All I've had to do is oil it every once in a while; one time I had to solder a loose wire.

I've had three cordless drills in the 10 years. They're all busted. No way to repair. Just gotta junk 'em and buy a new one.

Would that old steel drill be a contender for a back to basics product?

Or how about the older chevy trucks which, when you open the hood you can actually SEE SPACE BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE SIDE WALLS. And there is room to work! Simple, mechanical, does that job and when it needs some help, simple tools do the trick.

Would that be another contender?

See, I worked 14 hours today, am snuffed up on Benadryl, just read a tweet about a post of yours I missed, Tracy. I'm thinking I'm out of context here.

Could I leave it for humor's sake?

I am liking the egg/toaster combo, but after the situation involving the police that one of our posters encountered at Kohl's had-I stay away from that police...I don't need any police around me unless they are taking the children for a while to give me a break.
