I’ve loved cameras and photography for as long as I can remember. My Grandfather takes a lot of credit saying that I got the “shutterbug gene” from him, and I definitely can’t outright deny it.
I became more interested in photography with the birth of each of my children trying to replicate studio set ups at home with windows, some white pillows and a point and shoot camera. Instead of satisfying my need to be behind the camera it only made me hungrier for more. When I started nursing school and realized I’d need an art class I looked around and found an old school black and white Tmax film getting your fingers wet in the dark room chemicals class.
Watching that first picture go from white exposed paper to an image in the developer was the moment I fell in love, hard and fast. It was over exposed with poor focus but it was magic, and my magic at that. Besides that first darkroom class I have had one other photography class and have self-taught myself the rest.
My sense of style is still evolving, as I hope it does forever. I get inspiration for my images from a variety photographers the top three being Ansel Adams, Man Ray, and Annie Leibovitz. If I am ever able to combine their very different styles into one I believe that will be my self-defining image.

I want you to come and take pics of our family!
I love your work. I really like the rain photo.
Heather,
That first photo is amazing. You know I’ve long been a phan of your work. Are you selling any photos? There are several here that I can imagine in magazine spreads.
The girl in the rain inspires poetry, truly.
If someone wanted to buy one of my prints I wouldn’t say no, but I’m not actively pursuing sales.
I am going to have some notecards printed with DD dancing in the rain on the front, possibly with the quote that someone posted on my flickr comments.
Hmph, we can’t edit if we post too soon.
Thanks for the comments everyone, QueenMother I’d love to if we’re ever near the same area.
Love your work!
You have such an amazing eye.
